Here comes the Summer!

Slowly but surely the industry is opening. Owners of restaurants, bars and other on-trade venues have won the appreciation of the public for their sensible and safe approach to inviting customers back to their business. When the guidelines have been confusing, to say the least, and when the financial pressure to get trading again has been critical, consumers have been appreciative of the effort put in to keep them safe.

Sadly many great businesses have not survived the lockdown and many more will be treading a financial tightrope over the next year or so attempting to safeguard their businesses. As consumers, all we can do is get out of the staying at home habit and go and support your local venues. As businesses involved in the supply chain our job is to make sure that we help as much as we can. By making it easier to purchase, by offering great deals and new opportunities, to help to make the offer to consumers better than it was before.

Here at Comesto, we are building up the number of brands in our shop to help trade buyers offer more choice to their clients. In this magazine, we are promoting three great new drinks brands you can buy now. Hussingtree Gin, Pancho Datos Tequila and a great new range of fruit punch softies from Punchy Drinks.

We also have great news for our brands with the announcement of our new partnership with 59Club the golf mystery shopping and benchmarking service. 59Club has over 150 top UK golf clubs as customers and the Comesto platform is now available to hospitality managers at all of these clubs part of a greater movement to improve the eating and drinking experience for golf club members.

We also have an interview with Phil Grice General Manager of the Royal Norwich Golf Club and Chairman of the Golf Club Managers Association. Phil is passionate about provenance and quality in F&B products. Phil tells us how he upgraded the hospitality offer at the Royal Norwich Golf Club and how now in his role at the Golf Managers Association he is working with many other golf venues to help them do the same. He also gives his approval to the Comesto/59Club partnership predicting good business for brands and clubs.

Finally, for those restaurants and pubs that are now doing takeaways and are intending to continue with this service, we introduce Eskuta. Eskuta supply electric scooters for food deliveries. They run us through how you can now own your own delivery service for a very cost-effective outlay putting you in control of your takeaway offer and Comesto’s very own Jeremy Clarkson wannabe road tests one of the scooters (with video evidence) in a real-life collection from No9 Church Street one of our favourite restaurants.

Wishing you the best – The Comesto Team
